“I Like To Be By Myself, That Makes Me Happy…”

“I’m not an addict of any kind, except to new adventures.” – Raven-Symoné

Raven-Symoné and I have the same Sun and Moon signs, interchangeably, so I am not surprised by her free-spirited mentality.  And it is invigorating and reassuring to hear some of the things that she stated in this clip from her Where Are They Now? interview with Oprah Winfrey, as so much of what she says resonates with my spirit. It’s just wonderful to see that someone that has accomplished so much is still aiming higher and open to redefining her life and growing even more, each day.  It makes me happy and inspires me to see such innocence and humility within her, even in adulthood.  This was a great moment.

Tantalizing Tuesdays

Tuesdays have always been my favorite day of the week.  I find that for me, personally, I am super-sensitive and my intuition is highly in-tune on this day.  Things are just much more spiritually intense and in my face.  Therefore, it is a very chill day for me.  I like to relax and take it easy, accomplish what needs to be accomplished, and also have time for reflection.

As I got older, and more into the study of astrology, I learned that Tuesday is ruled by the planet Mars, which is the traditional ruler of Aries and Scorpio.  And as a Scorpio, this made perfect sense.  In fact, I was also born on a Tuesday.  So, I’d like to say that Tuesdays are MY day, a day of regeneration, birth and renewal.

Is there a day of the week that you have a special connection to?
If so, which one, and why?

Bobby Womack: The Soul of a Man

“With me, it’s all about feeling…” – Bobby Womack

Bobby Womack has such an interesting life story.  From beginning to end, his path led him to some of the highest of highs and lowest of lows.  And through it all, he never hid what he was going through, he never seemed phony, he would just write about it in his music…  This is how he would bare his soul.  He was as soulful as you could get.

I think this is why I have such an appreciation and connection to his music, primarily, because he is a native of Ohio (Cleveland, to be exact), a fellow water sign (Pisces) and because he was just so real and honest within his music.  He was a poet, a vessel used to create beautiful music and works of art that touch people at the core of their heart.  The tone of Bobby’s voice alone pulled at that one heart string that you never even knew existed, and opens you up to a new level of music and love.  The brother had a gift that was that deep.

Full of charm, unique style, a one-of-a-kind voice and that ever so sexy-warm smile, Bobby Womack is a vanguard of Black music.  And if you ever want to understand a man, just turn on some Bobby Womack.  “If You Think You’re Lonely Now”, “That’s The Way I Feel About Cha” and “Across 110th Street”, to name a few.  And these songs will lead you to his soul, the soul of a man.

Rest in Peace

On The Horizon: Mercury Retrograde & Solar Eclipse in Scorpio

It’s time to go deep, ladies and gentleman.  That’s right.  Scorpio season is amongst us and things are getting PRETTY heavy.  Whether you are a believer in astrology or not, their is one fact that cannot be denied; the energy of late has been very intense, and things are moving rapidly, whether you want them to or not… the ‘PUSH’ won’t let up.  And that’s just the power of the universe for you.  And I think that it’s very important for people to inform themselves about this so that they can move accordingly and make the proper steps in order to survive these occurrences and prosper in life.

With that out of the way, let’s get into it!

Scorpio is the deepest astrological sign of them all.  Being that it’s influence is spread heavily within my chart, I can bare witness to this.  Dealing with rebirth, death, secrets, sex, the unseen, and being a researcher and revealer of the unknown; you can expect for some surprises to come up within the next couple of weeks.

We are entering a Mercury Retrograde from October 21st to November 11th in this sign, so it will be a definite time of deep, internal reflection.  Many things may come to the surface that must be dealt with.  Retrogrades usually can cause a lot mishaps and confusion, as well.  Miscommunication, accidents, not reading in-between the lines; all of this can be brought on by a retrograde.  So it is very important to take it easy throughout this period of time so that things can run smoothly.  And with a Solar Eclipse occurring within this time frame on November 3rd at 11 degrees Scorpio, there will be more beginnings and endings that will happen in your life.  It is very important for those who know their birth chart to be mindful of where Scorpio resides in the houses and their angles and positions to see how this will be influencing you, directly.

Below, you will find several articles from some of my favorite astrologers/blogs about these two astrological events so that you can get greater details.  New opportunities are on the horizon, lovelies, and I hope that we all will rise to the occasion and TAKE what is rightfully ours.  Looking forward to what’s on the other side!  And be sure to catch a glimpse of the eclipse if you can, it will bless you!

Mariska Veres: Tribute to The Shine Eyed Songbird

Her weapons were
Her crystal eyes

Making every man mad
Black as the dark night she was
Got what no-one else had

It’s kind of eerie how the song, “Venus”, sung by Mariska Veres of the legendary band, Shocking Blue, mocks and reflects the very attributes that she had as a woman.  A Goddess, she was.  Born with her Sun in Libra, coincidentally, ruled by the planet Venus on October 1, 1947, it seems as if Mariska was born to be a beauty for the world to see.

Born in The Hague, Netherlands, it’s kind of obvious that her ethnic roots went deeper than that of Dutch ancestry.  You can see the Hungarian-Romani and Russian in her dark hair and inviting blue-green eyes.  She had such an enthralling aura about her, thus mentioned by admirers and those that knew her personally, it is even evident in photos.  There were many women of her era that were known for their style and beauty, but I have NEVER seen anyone who’s was as subtly dynamic as Mariska’s.

After only seeing one picture of her, I could tell that she was on another level and had a very deep soul.  And through her music, you could definitely hear it and feel it.  With such a rugged and soulful tone, her voice could take you to certain depths.  A dark, Gothic beauty, yet there was still a sense of innocence and purity about her.  I also find it interesting that she was a lover of cats, being the very intuitive person that I am, I could see a feline influence within her…  It takes one, to know one.

Being the R&B/Hip-Hop kind of girl that I am, I never knew anything about Mariska or even Shocking Blue.  It wasn’t until I accidentally stumbled across one of their pictures that I realized that I had heard their music, but never put faces to the sounds.  But I must admit, Mariska’s beauty caught me off guard; as well as, her mystique.  She was well-known as the lead singer of one of the greatest Rock n Roll bands of the ’70s and even had success as a solo artist, but as years went on, she was rarely in the spotlight.  Unlike many artists of today, she was a woman who shared her talent with the world, but was never the one to crave for the limelight and attention.  A powerful singer, yet modest and humble at heart.

In celebration of her birthday month and Libra season, I felt that it was a must that such a legend be honored.  Fans worldwide to this day praise Mariska Veres for her unique style of song and her contribution to music.  Through it, she lives on.

P.S.  I must reiterate the fact that not only was Mariska born with her Sun sign in Libra, she was born with it in her natal Mercury and Venus (for all of the astrology buffs out there).  She was most definitely BORN to sing the song, “Venus”, as it reflected whom she was.  Thus, making it one of the greatest turn of the century Rock n Roll songs of all time.

Love, Forgiveness & Clarity: Ways To Open Up The Heart

In honor of Valentine’s Day and the month of love, it is only right that I share these tips with you all on how to open up the heart.  The 4th chakra, the Anahata, is the energy center within the body that is located in the center of the chest/heart region behind the spine.  This is the area that locks in feelings and memories of love, joy, and compassion for yourself and others.  But all too often, it locks in pain from past experiences from relationships, guilt and feelings of self-unworthiness.

The picture below gives small, yet, life changing tips on how to open up and unlock the energy within your heart, be it positive or negative, so that you can attract more love and light to you.  And maybe even cupid will bless you with a special someone, too.  Continually enjoy your Sunday and happy New Moon in Aquarius and Chinese New Year of the Snake.  God Bless and be love!
